Mule Deer

The mule deer, Odocoileus hemionus, is common throughout Utah, inhabiting nearly every type of habitat in the state. They migrate seasonally from low elevation in winter to higher elevations in summer however, not all individuals migrate. Mule deers mate in the late fall, producing one to two fawns in late spring or early summer.

  • Length: Nose-to-tail length 3.9' to 6.9'
  • Height: 31" to 42" at the shoulders
  • Weight: Males up to 331 lb. Females up to 198 lb.
