Our Code of Conduct

Our general expectation is that everyone who joins our group will act appropriately and help create positive experiences for others. This is very important to us. Almost all of this is common sense, but most of the rules exist because of behavior we have encountered over the years. The rules in our code of conduct help use to fairly and consistently handle issues when they occur, but we will always prioritize the safety and wellbeing of others.

Sexual Offenses - 4.0.00
Definitions 4.1.00

As used in our rules:

  1. "Sexual harassment" means any behavior characterized by the making of unwelcome and/or inappropriate sexual remarks or physical advances to any other group member or individual interacting with the group.
Sexual Harassment 4.2.00

We have a zero tolerance policy towards sexual harassment

  1. Individuals who are found to have sexually harassed another member will be removed from the group.

Isolating another member.

We have had incidents where an individual attending our events has tried to get another member away from the group, such as attempting to lead someone off trail and away from the trail.

  1. Individuals who are found to have attempted to isolate another member from the group under false pretences will be removed from the group.
Retaliation - 5.0.00
Definitions 5.1.00

As used in our rules:

  1. "Retaliation" means making any action that might deter a reasonable person from participating in our group activities or make them feel uncomfortable while taking part of our group activities.
Retaliation Against Member 5.2.00

We want group memebers to feel confortable speaking up whenever they have concerns.

  1. We have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to retaliation.
  2. Any member who retaliates against another for speaking up will be banned from Utah Outdoors.
Retaliation Against Group Leaders 5.3.00

Our group leaders need to be able to effectively lead our group and enforce our group rules without fear of reprocussions.

  1. We have a zero tolerance policy when it comes to retaliation.
  2. Any member who retaliates against a group leader for any action they take in the course or running the group will be banned from Utah Outdoors.
Integrity - 1.0.00
Definitions 1.1.00

As used in our rules:

  1. "Integrity" means being honest and keeping your word.
  2. "Lying" means making false or untrue statements.
Acting with Integrity 1.2.00

We expect group members and leaders to always act with integrity.

  1. Any individual who is determined to have not acted with will be subject reprecusions to be decided by group organizers.
  2. Any individual who is determined to have compromised group safety by acting without integrity will be banned from Utah Outdoors.
Lying to Group Leaders 1.3.00

Trust is a very important part of creating a healthy group dynamic, lying to group leaders is not tolerated.

  1. Any individual who is determined to have lied to group leaders will be subject reprecusions to be decided by group organizers.
  2. Any individual who is determined to have compromised group safety by lying will be banned from Utah Outdoors.
