![]() ![]() Tim Hughes The name and voice of Tim Hughes is recognized throughout the intermountain area with over 20 years of broadcast experience in everything from Country radio to hosting a morning News/Talk format on the legendary 50,000 watt giant KSL in Salt Lake City. More recently adding several television projects to his resume as one of the commentators of "Utlimate Combat Experience" a MMA program airing on UPN and nationally aired "Driver", a NASCAR reality series that follows the career of a young driver and his crew. In 2004 he also appeared on the Showtime network as a ring announcer in the new series "Paradise" and was the featured play-by-play voice on the Sega Sports video game "NCAA 2K3" for Playstation, XBox and GameCube. 2002 brought a whole new milestone for Tim and the studio when he was chosen by the Salt Lake Organizing Committee and NBC Olympic division in New York to be their voice of the games. As the English speaking voice at Olympic Medals Plaza each night his voice reached an estimated 3.5 billion people on the international satellite broadcast and appeared live nightly on NBC Primetime with Bob Costas! During the 2002 Games, Tim also provided the billboard and promo voice for NBC network stations MSNBC/CNBC. Combine that with the fact that he was the venue message voice at 4 other Olympic sights including Olympic Stadium, and it's no wonder some were calling him "The Voice of the Games" in Salt Lake! His Olympic experience next extended to Athens Greece for the 2004 Summer Games where he served as English announcer at the Peristeri Boxing Hall. Along with his weekly work as ring announcer for the "Ultimate Combat Experience" and Olympic Boxing, Tim is also fast becoming the ring/cage voice for MMA events throughout the west. In 2004 he began work with some of the biggest names in MMA, Randy "The Natural" Couture and Olympic Silver Medalist Matt "The Law Lindland announcing all of their Sportfight events in Portland Oregon. He also worked the IFC "Eve of Destruction" card in 2005, has announced the National Blackbelt League Western Grand Nationals for 2 years and was hired as ring announcer for Lion Heart Productions "Night of the Heavies" at the Delta Center in Salt Lake City featuring a comback fight for Riddick Bowe. During his five year tenure at KSL (1988-1993) Tim co-hosted the annual Easter Seal Telethon and spearheaded the live Washington D.C. broadcast of the inauguration of former President George Bush. He has also appeared on another radio giant in Chicago, WLS while following the Utah Jazz to the NBA finals. Live broadcasts from the Disney Parks on both coasts and a front row seat to John Glenns return to space in 1998 at Kennedy Space Center round out an exciting career. During this time Tim also began working for KUTV 2 News, providing the daily news-topical voice for the CBS owned and operated TV station. The signature phrase "Make it 2-NEWS and YOU" can be heard most evenings during primetime with Tim's voice. In 2000 he completed his digital home audio/video studio, "On The Spot Voiceovers" complete with ISDN and internet MP3 capability and returned to KSL Newsradio 1160 and now hosts "Utah Outdoors" and "The KSL Greenhouse" program each week. He was also the voice of the NY Post Movie Reviews, InStore Radio Networks providing point of purchase voice for grocery and convenient stores all over the country along with on-hold messaging for Sport Court, the Karsten Golf Course in Arizona and NeWave Productions in Illinois. State Toyota dealer organizations in Utah and Colorado use Tim's voice on the "Keeping Your Toyota a Toyota" message CD given with each new vehicle sold. |
