These photos were taken at Hovenweep National Monument and the the surrounding canyons. The ruins near the monument visitor center and campground are spectacular: huge Hovenweep Castle is built right on the edge of a cliff, it's D-shaped rooms follow the contour. Nearby are tall, thin square towers. Amazing rockwork. In some spots in nearby canyons the pottery shards are so think you have difficulty walking through without stepping on them.
